Scottie DOES KNOW as his Hot Play Propels Him to Number 1 in the World

Scottie Scheffler’s 4 and 3 win in the final match of the WGC Dell Technologies Matchplay Championship over Kevin Kisner propels the 25-year-old Texan to No. 1 in the world.

Scheffler continued his strong play over the last couple of months capturing three wins in his last five starts. His win at Austin Country Club is not surprising since his familiarity with the prestigious Texas property feels like a home game to the University of Texas alum. His 10-2-2 record at the event is unmatched since the event has moved to the current venue.

Scheffler’s humble but fast rise to No. 1 in the world comes to no surprise to his peers as the 2021 Ryder Cup Captain's pick was scrutinized by outside circles.  Captain Steve Stricker and all 2021 Ryder Cup members unanimously voted Scheffler on the team marking the second time a non-winner on the PGA Tour was selected.

“Scottie has all of the attributes to be a great player and a member of the Ryder Cup Team for years to come,” stated Stricker.  He was proved right as Scheffler recorded 2.5 out of 3 points in his Ryder Cup debut.

Scheffler’s rise to No. 1 in the world has been in the works for years as his teacher Randy Smith molded his game and competitive spirit at Royal Oaks Country Club in Dallas, Texas. Smith has groomed and taught players such as Justin Leonard, Harrison Frazer, Colt Knost, and Ryan Palmer, but none have reached No. 1 in the world.

Scheffler's refreshing attitude towards the game should be a model for the future generation of players and ambassadors of the game.  Throughout his journey, Scheffler has never eyed being the best in the world, he was just trying to get better every day.  Sometimes that is enough.
